If you are looking at wedding venues in the Midlands then Mythe Barn is definitely one to have on your list. I have photographed quite a few weddings here over the years and it is always a brilliant place to spend a wedding day.
It has that perfect mix of being a really beautiful venue but also feeling relaxed and easy going. Couples can properly enjoy their day, guests have loads of space to relax, and there are loads of great spots for natural wedding photos.
It is also one of those venues where the day just flows nicely from one part to the next which makes a big difference for everyone.
The layout of Mythe Barn
One of the things I really like about Mythe Barn is how the venue is set up. Everything is close together and the different spaces work really well throughout the day.
In the centre of the building there is a large bar area which tends to become the main social hub. Guests naturally gather here between different parts of the day which gives it a great atmosphere.
To the right of the bar is the ceremony room. This is a super nice space with big floor to ceiling windows and glass doors at the front of the room which let loads of natural light in. It is a great place for ceremonies and works perfectly for natural wedding photography.
Later in the day this room can also be turned around and transformed into the evening party space with a DJ or band.
On the other side of the bar is the main reception room where guests usually have their wedding breakfast and speeches. It is a really big space and works really well for dining. For larger weddings this room can also be used for the evening party.
A lot of couples have their meal in the reception room while the ceremony room gets turned around ready for the evening which keeps everything running smoothly.
The food
If you are a bit of a foodie then you will love Mythe Barn. The grub they serve is always seriously tasty which is not easy to pull off when you are cooking for a whole wedding full of people all at the same time.
Photo spots around the venue
From a photography point of view Mythe Barn has loads of good spots without needing to wander too far.
The front entrance of the barn is great for confetti photos when guests come out after the ceremony.
The lawn and garden area at the front works really well for relaxed group photos and is handy on hot summer days as there is a bit of shade.
There is also a garden area to the side of the venue with a pagoda which is a really nice quiet spot for couple portraits away from the crowd.
Round the back of the venue there is a courtyard area which is perfect for relaxed couple photos and candid moments during the drinks reception.
And of course the long drive leading up to the venue makes a lovely backdrop for photos as well.
Because everything is fairly close together you can get some really nice couple portraits without disappearing for ages and leaving your guests wondering where you have gone.
The evening vibe at Mythe Barn wedding venue
Mythe Barn is a great venue when it comes to the evening party as well.
Once the ceremony room has been turned around it becomes a really good space for a packed dance floor. I have seen some brilliant parties here over the years with DJs, bands and even the odd sax player getting involved.
If you are planning a wedding at Mythe Barn it is a fantastic venue that works brilliantly for weddings.
It looks great, the staff look after everyone really well, the food is spot on and there are loads of great spots for natural photos throughout the day.
And if you are considering Mythe Barn and want someone who knows the venue, enjoys a laugh and is up for capturing some great photos of your day, I am your man 😉!
