Mythe Barn has to be one of the most popular barn wedding venues in the Midlands and a brilliant location for relaxed, natural wedding photography.

I’ve photographed many weddings at Mythe Barn over the years and it’s always a fantastic venue to work at. The team there look after couples and their guests brilliantly, making it a great place to spend the day celebrating. The beautiful barn ceremony space, gardens and surrounding countryside provide loads of opportunities for natural wedding photos. And the food… if you’re a bit of a foodie then you’ll love Mythe Barn. The grub they serve is always seriously tasty, which isn’t easy to pull off at weddings when you’re catering for so many people all at once.

A relaxed wedding at Mythe Barn

Kate and Joe’s wedding at Mythe Barn had such a nice relaxed feel to it from the start. They’re both really laid-back people and you could tell straight away their friends and family were all really close, which always makes for a great atmosphere throughout the day.

Before the ceremony Joe was definitely feeling the nerves a bit while waiting at the front of the barn. You could see him wiping his forehead while waiting for Kate to walk down the aisle, a moment I think most grooms can probably relate to. As soon as the ceremony started though everything settled and the day just flowed really nicely from there.

After the ceremony everyone headed outside for drinks while we grabbed a few relaxed photos around the venue. Mythe Barn is great for this because everything is so close together, so you can get some nice couple portraits without dragging people away from their guests for too long.

The evening had a really good party vibe. The DJ was Jackstar weddings, who I’ve worked with a few times over the years and is always spot on, defo go check him out if you're looking for a pro dj for your big day. They also had a saxophonist playing alongside the DJ which worked really well and got everyone onto the dance floor pretty quickly.

Mythe Barn Wedding Photography – Best Photo Spots

Mythe Barn has some great locations for relaxed couple portraits and natural wedding photos throughout the day.

Some of my favourite spots include:

• The front entrance of the barn – this is a great location for confetti photos as guests exit the ceremony.

• The lawn and garden area at the front – perfect for relaxed group photos, especially on hot summer days as it provides a bit of shade.

• The garden area to the right of the venue with the pagoda – a lovely quiet spot for natural couple portraits away from the main crowd.

• The courtyard area at the back of the venue – ideal for relaxed couple photos as well as capturing candid moments of guests throughout the drinks reception.

• The long driveway leading into the venue – another great spot for natural couple portraits and a lovely backdrop for wedding photos.
